Junior School Sport
The Junior School Sports program offers students a broad range of sporting opportunities, with a strong focus on skill development and inclusivity.
Throughout the year, your child will develop their skills in Physical Education lessons and then put these skills into practice through competing Interhouse competitions and at Interschool carnivals.
JIGSSA
Iona is a member of the Junior Independent Girls' Schools' Sports Association (JIGSSA WA). As a member of JIGSSA, students compete in Interschool Swimming (Years 4 – 6), Cross Country (Years 3 – 6) and Athletics (Years 4 – 6 only) carnivals, as well as Winter Games days for Hockey, Soccer, Cricket and AFL that are held during the school day for students in Years 3 to 6. Competing in the JIGSSA competition prepares students for the Independent Girls' School Sports Association (IGSSA) competition in the Senior School. Students from Years 3 to 6 will also compete in Summer Games.
In addition to this, students can represent Iona at the Perth Netball Association and the Westside Wolves Hockey Club in teams that are coached by parents after school.
