Morning Meeting
We always start our day with our morning meeting where we say hello to our teachers and friends. We say our morning prayer, Acknowledgment of Country, and talk about what we have planned for the day.
9.10 am
Inquire & Discover
Before recess, we have inquiry time where we learn about different things that interest us. We have learned about how plants grow, how to mix colours, and all about the different seasons. We ask questions and find the answers through reading books, playing, researching on the iPads, and having experts visit us in class.
11.30 am
Wellbeing Kimochis
Before lunch we have 'Kimochi Time' where we learn all about our feelings using the Kimochi toys. We have Bug, Cat, Cloud, Huggtopus and Lovey Dove. They all have different feelings, some good and some hard to have, and we learn about how we all have those feelings sometimes.
2.15 pm
Visual Art
I love Art class. My favourite thing to do is paint.
3.00 pm
Home Time
Kindy is all about spending time with my friends. We get to play and explore together, to laugh and have fun, and to help each other if we are ever feeling sad or hurt. Every day in Kindy is different, it is exciting and fun and that's what I love about it.
8.50 am
Morning Fitness
We start the day with morning fitness. Our teachers and the Year 6 students organise different activities for each class to do on the oval for a few minutes. Then we head inside for our Religious Education lesson.
9.35 am
Maths
I love Maths, especially when we get to sing times tables songs and play games. We have just finished learning about money and have been creating a budget to help us design our own theme park. It’s so much fun!
11.30 am
French
After recess, it’s time for French. We’re learning how to talk about our hobbies in French: J'aime danser et je joue du piano! I love to dance and I play the piano!
1.40 pm
STEM
We’re always doing cool investigations in STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics). Over the last few weeks, we have been designing bottle rocket cars that are propelled by gas. The gas is made by mixing a solid and a liquid. Today we’ll be testing our bottle rocket cars!
2.25 pm
Dance
Dance is the best way to end the day. I love it so much that I joined Dance Club after school! Getting to move to the music and make dances with my classmates is so much fun.
7.30 am
Broadcasting Club
I get to school early on a Wednesday for Co-curricular Broadcasting Club. Our Broadcasting Studio is awesome! I love getting to read the Iona News bulletin in front of the green screen and watching it come to life in the editing suite.
9.35 am
Innovation & Tech
So far this year, we’ve learnt about the science and maths behind drone aviation by flying drones and programming their flight paths. We’ve also looked at virtual reality and exploring using VR headsets! Now we’re designing and building bridges. Mine is almost finished!
10.20 am
English
We have an exciting incursion in English today – The Bell Shakespeare Company are coming to perform for us! We’ve been studying Shakespearean text in class so I can’t wait to see the actors’ interpretations.
12.15 pm
Music Lesson
I look forward to my private saxophone lesson every week in the Music Department. There is an Instrumental Recital every year that music students perform in. Lots of the girls who play instruments are also in different music ensembles or in the orchestra, and I love getting to perform with my friends.
1.40 pm
Outdoor Education
I chose Outdoor Ed as an elective to challenge myself. So far, we’ve done surfing, high ropes, and fishing – just to name a few. This term we are working towards getting our Bronze Medallion. I can’t wait for our trip to Rottnest Island at the end of the year!
