IGSSA Dance 2025

29 August 2025

On Friday 29 August, Iona Presentation College students participated in the 2025 IGSSA Dance Festival, hosted this year at Penrhos College. The Festival is a highlight of the IGSSA Arts calendar, bringing together students from member schools to share their work in a non-competitive setting that encourages collaboration, creativity and growth.

Our College presented two group performances across the different year levels. Students in Years 10–12 presented Work. Street. Repeat., a contemporary piece that explored the contrast between rigid, monotonous office life and the freedom and vibrancy of street culture. The choreography highlighted themes of routine, resistance and release, giving students the opportunity to explore characterisation alongside technical performance.

The Years 7–9 group performed From Echo, Emergence, a work that focused on patterns, reflection and the idea of movement developing from repetition. Through flowing sequences and strong ensemble work, students explored the relationship between individual dancers and the group as a whole.

The IGSSA Dance Festival is an opportunity for students to gain experience in performance while working closely with their peers and teachers to develop new ideas and skills. For many, it is also a chance to see the diverse approaches to dance taken by other schools and to be inspired by the breadth of creativity across the IGSSA community.

We congratulate all of our dancers on their efforts in preparing for and presenting their work at this year's Festival.
