Celebrating Presentation Day
Last week, we joined with Presentation People around the world in commemorating the Presentation of Mary in the Temple; a significant feast day for Catholic each year on November 21.
Friday 21 November was a very special day for our College as we celebrated Presentation Day. We acknowledge the importance of Mary as a special role model for us all, as well as Nano Nagle and our Presentation Sisters who are wonderful examples of faith, compassion and love in our world.
Our Junior School staff and students travelled to the Senior School Campus to celebrate Mass, and it was such a treat to be joined by so many of our treasured Presentation Sisters. We heard were inspired by Monsignor Long's insightful homily and the prayerful way in which he conducted our Mass. Furthermore, we were blessed to have a surprise video message from Sister Anne Lyons PBVM, Postulator for the Cause of Nano Nagle, who travelled from Ireland to be a "Sister in Residence" at Iona in Term 1.
Our Year 1 students gifted our Sisters a token of appreciation, along with handwritten cards created by our Year 10 students. Following Mass, students spent time at lunchtime celebrating, whilst staff and Sisters gathered for a delicious shared lunch.
We were grateful for the opportunity to come together as a Presentation faith community today to honour Mary and our Presentation Sisters.
Story centred in faith is very important to us at Iona and we pride ourselves on our Catholic Presentation heritage.
Happy Presentation Day to all Presentation People around the world!
