Year 11 Mock Trial Team Crowned Grand Final Champions!

30 October 2025
Highlights 62

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that our Year 11 Mock Trial team has triumphed in the Grand Final of the prestigious Mock Trial Competition run by The Law Society of Western Australia, defeating reigning champions Bob Hawke College, who had held the title for the past two years.

In a gripping courtroom showdown, our team took on the role of the defence for K-Pop Demon Hunters, delivering a performance that was nothing short of phenomenal. Their opening arguments and closing statements were so compelling, they quite literally raised the roof of the Supreme Court!

The team, made up of Millicent M. (11 Columba), Sarah-Grace L. (11 Treacey), Grace H. (11 Columba), Grace S. (11 Kildare), Jessica S. (11 O'Dowling), Matilda P. (11 Moynihan), Chiara P. (11 Columba), Gemma S. (11 Columba), Alessandra H. (11 Kildare), Chloe E. (11 Columba) and Giselle T. (11 O'Halloran) demonstrated exceptional legal acumen, teamwork and poise under pressure.

Special mention must go to our flawless witnesses Rumi and Zoey, who delivered testimony with such precision and confidence that they left the prosecution team in awe.

This outstanding achievement was made possible under the superb guidance of Hayley Bosustow (Class of 2025), an Iona Old Girl, and Ms Tanya Kitchen, our dedicated Politics and Law teacher. Their expert coaching and unwavering support were instrumental in preparing the team for this high-stakes competition.

This victory is not only a testament to the talent and dedication of our students but also a proud moment for our school community. We congratulate the team on their well-deserved success and thank everyone who supported them on this journey.

Well done, champions! You've made Iona proud.
